I had a Pentium MMX 166mhz with Windows 95 and a 28.8 baud modem when I discovered Slashdot. And it was through Slashdot that I first discovered Linux. Slashdot also redefined the concept of nerd and geek that I previously had.
Before I started to read Slashdot I thought I was geeky and nerdy. But man, the people on Slashdot where way over my head in hardcore geekyness and unprecedented nerdyness.
Slashdot also gave me Penny Arcade, MySQL, Moodle, the MarkIV, Cringely, Firefox, Groklaw, Google... Whew, too many to mention.
Slashdot has given me more mod points than I know what to do with.
But lately...
I find Slashdot... Well, rancid.
I was thinking of cutting to nil my Slashdot reading. That is until I read an article today (on Slashdot, of course) that they are planning to take up on CSS.
If only the article write-ups where actually edited just a bit...
The information soldier moves with the times...
